Visual Effects Supervisor 2bitfx, “Orc Wars”

Visual story development and planning for effective vfx integration. On set collaboration with film crew to ensure visual effects integration. Set data collection. Helping artist translating concept art to 3D models. Overseeing all aspects of visual effects as well as handling lookdev, effects, lighting and compositing. This was an extremely ambitious and underfunded indie film.

Co-Head Lighting Supervisor Rhythm & Hues, “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters” “R.I.P.D”

I left the studio early in the production of these two films.  My role was to help oversee lighting development in Houdini for these two productions.  I was not crediting in either film as my impact was fairly limited, due to my departure from the company.

Lighting Supervisor Rhythm & Hues, “Everybody Loves Whales”

Responsible for all digital lighting, including fully cg sequences. Manage a team of lighters both aesthetically and technically. Work directly with the Digital and Visual Effects Supervisors to ensure the lighting meets with the client specifications.

Environment Lookdev Lead Rhythm & Hues, “Hop”

I work directly with the Environment Supervisor and Environment Lookdev artists to help develop the look of the cg environments. I help with technical trouble shooting of files and support for the environment team, facilitating communication, as well as lookdeving various props and set pieces. I was also involved in building many of the environment lookdev and lighting processes at the beginning of production before we drastically change software directions which redefined my role.

Visual Effects Supervisor 2bitfx, web-series “The Book of Jer3miah”

Produced visual effects for two episodes, including fire integration and set extensions and matte paintings. Effects were created for the original release or for later dvd release. Episodes include:

Lighting TD Rhythm & Hues, “The A-team”

Working on shot production, lighting, rendering, and managing files and technical issues for shots in the production pipeline. Give feed back to the lead and lighting supervisor on improving development of new lighting procedure.

Lighting Lead Rhythm & Hues, “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel”

I work directly with the Lighting Supervisor and a Team Sequence Supervisor to help develop the work flow and address technical needs for my team. I also help my team to deliver assets that will allow the compositing team to final shots per the clients specifications.

August 2008 – May 2009

Lighting/Environment Lead Rhythm & Hues, “Land of the Lost”

I work directly with the Environment and Digital Supervisors to develop the work flow and pipeline for rendering large set extensions. I was also involved in building many of the lookdev and lighting processes at the beginning of production along with the 2d lighting templates. I lead a team of 4 lighters and about 12 matte painters to complete over 600 set extensions.

October 2007 – July 2008

Lighting TD Rhythm & Hues, “Mummy 3: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor”

I work directly with the Lighting and Digital Supervisors to build and maintain the lighting 2d templates necessary for the lighting pipeline. I was also involved in building many of the lookdev and lighting processes at the beginning of production. My responsibilities also include shot lighting some of the more technically challenging shots and helping other artists with trouble shooting there files.

April 2007 – October 2007

Lighting TD Rhythm & Hues, “The Golden Compass”

Lighting characters.  Software testing and development.  Writing Documentation and inhouse software user manual. 

I also worked on “Alvin and the Chipmunks” at the tail end of my time on
compass, testing and trouble shooting lighting tools.  But the work was very minor and I didn’t get an official credit.

July 2006 – November 2006

Lighting TD Rhythm & Hues, “Night at the Musuem”

My responsiblities were lighting a CG Trex, lighting Massive crowds of the diorama people and doing the pre-compositing for the shot. It was a lot of fun! I really love the blend of compositing and lighting in the Lighting TD position.

June 2005 – January 2006

Compositor LDS Motion Picture Studio, “Joseph”

My responsibilities were as compositor, rotoscoping, tracking, and creating light effects in Shake. The film is a 4k live action film output back to film at 4k resolution for projection.
